2010년 4월 8일 목요일,

Okay, as I've said in the previous post, we have concert coming very soon.

Here's the detail:

LIMELIGHT
Date: 4 May, Tuesday
Time: 7.30pm
Venue: ESPLANADE!!!

We will be playing the 4 songs that have made us CHAMPION for the Yamaha Australian National Band Championship 2010. Therefore, you should not miss this concert if you want to hear the band that REPRESENTED SINGAPORE with these songs.

We will also be playing other songs but more importantly, I will be acting out in the skit in one of the 4 songs (For your information, we really did put up a skit during the competition day itself!) So, you better not miss it!

Confirmed Repertoire
Arsenal, Jan van der Roost (played in Australia)
The Inn of Sixth Happiness, Malcom Arnold arr. Munetoshi Senoo(played in Australia)
Amazing Grace, Frank Ticheli (played in Australia)
Vesuvius, Frank Ticheli
Chicago: The Musical
Dutch Masters Suite, Johan de Meij (played in Australia)
Deep Purple Medley, arr. Toshihiko Sahashi

The last good reason not to miss is that the price is TOTALLY CRAZY, literally!!!
Student - $11
Adult - $21
Try to find a PRESTIGIOUS concert that's worth that much. Hardly, and the price includes SISTIC charges.

So don't miss this because this is going to be a concert that you will never forget, as you are going to experience the SPECTACULAR performance done in Australia and that's going to be done again in Singapore!!!

Call Anderson Junior College for more enquiries or contact me for order of tickets.

Hope to see you there, better!

2010년 4월 5일 월요일,

Sorry that I didn't have updates because I did not bring my laptop to Australia.
So I'll tell you what happened during the whole trip.

But first, my band got OVERALL CHAMPION for Open B Division!

Here's the detail,
Score Hymn Test Own Choice March Total
Anderson Junior College : 40 180 177 43 440
Derwent Valley Concert Band: 40 150 146 36 372
Unley Concert Band: 40 160 170 42 412

Furthermore, our band is 2nd in Overall!!! The first is the Hobart Wind Symphony (Open A Division) with the score of 455. Impressive, eh?

We were extremely happy with the results and we screamed and shouted in the hall while the rest of the audiences were watching us going mad... Anyway, it was a great achievement.

2 other Singaporean bands participated too but they didn't make it. Hope they can achieve in the next big event!

Of course, we did not only practice for the whole trip. We also went to Port Arthur (a prison in the 18th to early 19th century), Cadbury Factory and Bonorong Wildlife Centre.

I was also scolded by my instructor for lying... My goodness, let me tell you, this was the first lie I made since the start of the year... I have sinned greatly... What's worse is that I don't even know why the hell I lied to him for...
My instructor even said I should stay in Port Arthur FOR LIFE... Whatever... but I agree... Lying is a great sin, seriously.

The 2nd last day, we went for the Gala Concert for the closing ceremony of the concert band category in the Yamaha Australian National Band Championship 2010. It started at 8.30pm (6.30pm in Singapore) and we thought the concert would be ending at 10+ and our guess was horribly wrong... it ended at 11.30pm... OMG...
Most of the band, including me, slept in between the repertoire. But the concert was very good and was worth 25 Aussie dollars.

5 April, the day back to Singapore. We only get to sleep for 2 hours, from 1am to 3am... and we had to go to airport. Definitely and once again, most of us were drowsy. After we reached the airport, we gave our farewell and thanks to our bus driver, Ken. He was a very kind, generous and caring person. He told us all the interesting stories in Hobart and tried his very best to help us get our meals. We'll never forget him, too kind to be forgotten.

So we took the first flight from Hobart to Melbourn, via Virgin Blue. The flight is very short. You sleep during the take-off and when you wake up, the plane is already landing at the destination. I'm serious about this.

Then we took the next flight from Melbourn to Singapore, via A380!!! When I first got into the flight, I thought this will be unforgettable. And it really is, just that the reason behind is different. The seats were more prestigious compared to other flights, yes, but that's was not the point. The whole plane was undergoing turbulence, from take-off (DURING somemore) to landing. The whole flight was a roller-coaster ride, literally!
As the plane started to lift in the middleway, the plane gave a sudden deep drop! Everyone was shouting and screaming and AAAAAAAHHHHHHHhhhhhh!
In the middle of the flight, the captain told that it was unexpected as such bad weather was not forecasted... and he said that the weather at Singapore was going to be fine. Yeah right, let's leave aside the 33 degree celcius temperaure. In the last 15 minutes to the landing, the plane was stuck in the cluster of clouds, with nowhere for escape. What's worse was that the plane was stuck in the cluster of DARK clouds, that means there's going to be greater turbulence and more diffculty in controlling the plane. Anf it was, the plane was going up and down, up and down, up and down, and the infants (about 3 to 4) were crying very loudly. I've got frustrated. I have experienced turbulence before but this was even more frightening. That's why it will never be forgotten.

After we reached Singapore, we went back to reality, the school. We had to catch up with a lot of homeworks and lectures and tutorials. It was very tiring with the tiredness from the long journey. I'm still tired now... and very worried about my academics.

Furthermore, we have a concert to go. So I will give you more details on that in the next post.
(Yawn) I think I better go to sleep now... Good night!
